What graphics cards beat AMD A10 APU?

My cousin wants to get a new PC so that whenever he's at home he can play games that are too demanding for his laptop with an A10 cpu. At what point do the graphics cards start to be significantly better with both Radeon and Nvidia graphics so I can try to keep the costs down?

AMD R7 260 and Nvidia GTX750, if his laptop is running a 6000-series A10, then something even slower should still be much better.
Though there's a point where the value takes a steep dive, i would say these two GPU's are at the edge of this dive, meaning if you go lower you won't get as much for your money. ;)
