New build (fans spin up) but showing red cpu led and not connecting to a monitor.

I recently put together a new gaming pc, (my second build) and would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with this issue. Thanks

The specs:
i7 4770k CPU
ASUS Z87 Plus Motherboard
ASUS GTX 970 GPU
Corsair H100i CPU Cooler
8GB 1333mhz ddr3 RAM
2x Samsung 840 evo 750Gb SSD's
Corsair TX850M PSU

The Problem:
I recently put together a new gaming pc (as my old pc was 6 years old and very outdated)
when I had completed the build I turned the pc on, the fans started up but it refused to connect to a monitor (with any of the connections on the motherboard or graphics card) I then noticed that the red cpu light was on. I double checked all the power connectors and reset the cmos but nothing has changed.

Thank you for paying attention to my problem. I am getting pretty desperate at this point as I have been saving for 4 years for this pc and so would greatly appreciate any help,

Hi mate,
First things first, do you have a PC speaker plugged in? is it beeping at all?
if you had one in the last machine, you will know the single "beep" is a successful post, and it will run,
depending on your motherboard, you can have a series of different beeps, to inform whether it is the CPU, ram, video card etc.
you can try to eliminate a few things, try removing the video card, and try to power up using the onboard video,
is the ram a single chip? was your old pc running DDR3? you can try another chip to test with.
it can also be helpful, unplugging drives etc, just to get it to post, then go from there,

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

Firstly no, I don't have a pc speaker
Secondly yes, I have tried unplugging the graphics card but to no avail
thirdly yes, I have tried with different ram
and lastly I have tried booting with other hard drives but it didn't make a difference

I tried updating the bios but again the red CPU led comes on and it still wont connect to the monitor.

any other suggestions?
