looking for a new gpu please help

So im looking for a new gpu
my price range is about 200$-250$
My rig
intel i5 750
msi p55-cd53
raptorxx 600w pro series
6gb ram
....
The problem is i got quite a small case i dont know the name of the case but its 49cmX41cmX19cm
and there is about 20 cm till the SATA pins on the mobo
So which gpu shoulde i get
Ps im a gamer so im looking for something that can go max settings 1600X900 resolution

I was thinking about a r9 280x but its too huge all about 26 cm
so you think the 285 is better than gtx 760
