I was watching a you tube video and suddenly my speakers start buzzing and I get the BSOD. The computer restarts normally and I don't know what's going wrong. My version of windows is practically clean. any help?

Hi, i think you are pretty scared of that BSOD. Dont worry. Blue screens are generally caused by problems with your computer’s hardware or issues with its hardware driver software. When a blue screen occurs, Windows automatically creates a “minidump” file that contains information about the crash and saves it to your disk. Find and download BlueScreenViewer and check the last minidump file that is there and write here the error code. We will tell you the reason and how to possibly solve it.

How do I check the last minidump file?

What the? Thats impossible. Did you manualy restart the windows? Why isnt there a minidump file? Windows automaticly makes one. Are you sure that you had a BSOD or just a crash and shutdown? Click on the "reset" button in the program just to check again. It should have atleast 1 thing.

I got a blue screen after a loud noise was coming from my monitor speakers. It stayed for a few seconds and then the computer restarted by itself. It did give me options to run in safe mode etc...

Yep, as i though there is no crash report. We cant help you if we dont know the code. Probably was just an system error and is not going to come again. Go and do whatever you have to do and if you have the BSOD error again continiue writing here because if another one comes on, then for 100% there will be a crash report.

http://blog.nirsoft.net/2010/07/27/how-to-configure-windows-to-create-minidump-files-on-bsod/

This tells me to change the kernal dump to a small memory dump. In the virtual memory, it has 8gb allocated.

Yes, make it. And also its the same as reedo said so you dont need to check how to do it. I think he gave pretty clear instructions. Now run MemTest and wait until the next BSOD and after it write down the error code in that thread.

I don't have a disk drive or USB sticks

Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer's memory problems.‌ Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Got go too for a bit. Good luck!

I didn't get any issue messages. Do you think this would be an ageing hard drive. It is 9 years old.
