I need to upgrade my PC. I am going to try and re-use some of the components such as hard drive, memory, case and power supply to save money. I am going to list my current rig and then list my components i am thinking of upgrading to. I could really use advice on this. If you see any flaws in my thinking please let me know. It has been over 5 years since i did any PC build research.

Current PC:
Case: Antec 900 two ATX mid tower
PSU: Corsair TX series CMPSU-750 TX 750w ATX 12V
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 AM3 AMD 790X
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black 3.2GHz (unlocked 2 additional cores)
Memory G.Skill 240 pin DDR3 1600(PC3 12800) 2 sticks at 2GB, 2 sticks at 4GB for total of 12GB
Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 5850 1GB
Hard Drive: WD 1TB 7200rpm drive

Here is my planned upgrade:
Case: keeping existing case
PSU: keeping existing PSU
Motherboard option 1: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 LGA 1150 Intel Z97
Motherboard option 2: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X killer LGA 1150 intel Z97
CPU: Intel core i5 4690k 3.5GHz LGA 1150
Memory: keeping existing memory
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB
Hard Drive: keeping existing hard drive
SSD: Samsung 840 pro series 512GB sata III 2.5"
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

I am hoping that everything i keep will be compatible with the new components. They should be but i defer to the experts in the community. Can you see any glaring issues such as size of the video card for my existing Antec case? Or problems with the PSU being able to support the new components? Any components you would recommend instead of what i have listed? I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,

-ProfRyan

I would go with a Crucial MX 100, 512gb. It is generally a good deal cheaper, and still a good drive. That MSI board is a THG recommended one, so I would probably choose it vs the Asrock. Everything else looks fine. The GPU you have and the one you are looking to get should be within about 5mm of each other in length, so I don't see that as being an issue.
