I have a Westell A90-750022 DSLModem/Router and a Netgear r6300v1 Gigabit router set up for my Home Network. Originally I had the Westell bridged to the Netgear and done most of my streaming from my NAS via my hardwired gigabit network. Only using wireless gigabit for my tablets, and printer. Everything has been working great for over a year, with no problems, untill the past couple of weeks. Then I noticed my DSL speed was running about half, when doing a speed test. Instead of 10MB dl, the best my system was doing was 4 to 5MB, and sometimes as low as 2MB I thought for sure Centurylink was limiting my bandwidth. I reset my Westell DSL modem, and hooked my pc straight up to it... Eureka.. my dl speed was back up to 10MB, both wireless and hardwired. So I hooked my Netgear router up to the Westell, this time without bridging the Westell... Hmmm my dl speed through the Netgear, is still 10MB both wireless, and hardwired from it. So undoubtely I'm now losing dl speed when I have the Westell bridged, and using the Netgear to obtain IP., When not bridged the entire network works flawlessly. So is my problem in the Westell, or the Netgear??? Sounds to me like a Netgear problem, but is it hardware, or somekind of conflict. As I said, the system worked perfectly for over a year.. Nothing had been changed. Any ideas of where I need to look to find the problem? A year ago I had a problem with the Netgear losing the DSL IP, and Netgear support had me to change the wireless settings on the Netgear. by changing the Fragmentation and CTS/RTS Threshold to 2304, and that fixed that problem. But now I'm not even sure the different problem is a Netgear issue. All I know, is, if I switch back to bridge mode, I once again lose half my dl speed, otherwise, everything works ok. Centurylink told me, they detected a noise issue on my line, but that noise issue disappeared when I took the Westell out of bridge mode. HELP!

Solution
Well it would appear the issue is the Westtell since when you change from Bridge mode things get better. Try this. Use the 6300 as an Access Point. Keep the westell in router mode. Turn off DHCP on the Netgear, connect a lan port from the Netgear to a lan port on the westell. This way you are out of bridge mode and just using the Netgear as a wireless AP. This simplifies things for the westell.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. After having a Centurylink technician at my home twice, both times telling me they were no issues with my connection, or Westell modem, claiming the problem was with my Netgear 6300, or home network. I asked for a replacement for the Westell and was given an Actiontek PK5001Z modem. Eureka...... with the new PK5001Z my system was back up, running perfectly in bridge mode. The Westell was definitely the problem.... My system has now been ruiing with the Actiontek modem for 4 months, and not one issue with my network.
