Slow Internet, Wireless Adapter Going Faulty?

Intro to the problem:
I recently installed a new and awesome graphics card, GTX 970, and a couple days after that, I noticed my internet speeds plummeted :??: I've tried my internet speeds on my laptop and the home desktop that my family uses, and the speeds were fine. I used to be able to watch 1080p YouTube videos even if there were other people on our wifi, and we just recently as of yesterday, upgraded our modem to even faster speeds. So I know I'm capable of watching higher def videos and faster downloading speeds than before. Now, I can barely watch low quality YouTube vids even if one other person is on the wifi.
Possible causes:
When I was buying the network adapter for my gaming rig, I bought the cheap $12 Panda Wireless 'plug n play' USB off of Newegg. I went back on today and didn't see them anymore which I found interesting. Could my wireless adapter be going bad, or am I missing the necessary files to keep it up and running? I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the adapter and to no avail.

If you need any other info, just ask! Thank you in advance!

I have a new Corsair HX 750w. I just like the convenience of the USB is all. I've heard the ups and downs of both types. I just don't feel like popping my case open and turning everything off. And the pci cards can be more expensive than the USB and I don't have enough money to blow right now anyways.

The optimizer didn't work, and I don't really know how to use it very well. And do you mean try as in 'buy' or as in, use another one? I don't have any others laying around and my other friends are practically unreachable.

Guys, I just need to know if my USB wifi adapter is bad. I don't know how to tell other than the slow internet. I've tried optimizing and cleaning my PC and it didn't work. I used to have much higher speeds before.

Getting a new adapter didn't work. The new allows up to 150mbps but I'm still getting 5mbps.... I know I got the right kind for my network. I tried using both of our networks and they're both the same. It must be something on my computer, but I don't know where to start!

It's a brand new router we got from our provider. I don't know the specs on it, but I'm just gonna say that the speeds on my laptop are up to par on the same network. I used to get awesome speeds on my desktop until I uninstalled the old graphics drivers from my dead Radeon

Well I doubt the prob was caused by uninstalling the video drivers. Its either the modem, or maybe the drivers for the USB adapter

If the modem is wireless G, its not going to support N150 speeds.

Or it maybe the drivers for the USB adapter. Did you let windows install the drivers or did you download then install the drivers for the USB adapter?

I installed the drivers with the disk it came with. How do I check the modem if it's Wireless G or not?

I tried everything. I don't know what else to do. And I don't have any friends that could really help me.

Well guys, after much troubleshooting, it's come down to my computer's location from the router. There are simply too many obstacles in the way to have a fast connection. I had a friend come over a while ago and confirmed this. The closer I am to the router, the faster the speed is. We tested this with his laptop, not my desktop, good God that would be too much work.
I forgot to mention that I moved my computer from our gameroom to my room. I did this at the same time I got the new graphics card. What's weird though is that the new wireless USB adapter actually slowed my connection even more than my older one, so needless to say I reverted back. So I'm just going to buy a wifi range extender and put it in a good location in or near my room. Hopefully that should fix the issue!

"I recently installed a new and awesome graphics card, GTX 970" this means higher power consumption, wich I bet u didn't upgrade your psu?! maybe thats why the usb devices keep malfunction? just an idea.

Do u have shutdowns during gameplay also?

No, I have a brand new Corsair HX 750w, so it has more than enough wattage to operate. My computer has never ran better before.
