i7-4790k and yes Sata is on the mobo and it got power...IDK.... but at the begginning I forgot to connect the pump power ... so basicly for 5 min uit had no cooling...Even then the computer didnt want to boot up

OK. Well it needs BIOS 0609 to support that CPU

Core i7-4790K (4.0Ghz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, HD Graphic, 88W, rev.C0) ALL 0609

Since this mobo supports USB BIOS flashback download the latest BIOS

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VII-HERO/MAXIMUS-VII-HERO-ASUS-2012.zip

Dont worry if the system isnt running, flashback just needs a PSU.

Extract it, rename the rom file to whatever the manual says you have to rename it to

Copy it to a flash drive

Put it in whatever USB port flashback uses, press the button on the back. Wait for it to finish

Also check that the SATA power and data cable are connected.

I'm having the same issue with my Maximus VII Gene MB. I'm using an i5-4670K, 4 core CPU and two GEForce 8800GTs. I'm doing a rebuild. I upgraded everything but the OS and graphics cards but I plan to do the OS once I finish the BIOS setup. I've tried two monitors, replaced all my SATA and monitor cables and I still can't get displays on a monitor. I haven't built a system since '07 so I'm a little rusty. If I download updated Bios SW, what button am I pushing to load from the rear of the desktop???

I have the same mobo and had this happen to me a few times, mostly with a USB flash drive attached. It'as a pain. I couldn't get into bios setup and flashing or resetting the bios did nothing. It's an occasional hiccup in the BIOS that hasn't been fixed even in the latest BIOS update.

To solve it I disconnected a few SATA cables to some drives (in my case it's 2 SATA data cables going to 2 HDs setup as RAID 0). I then booted up and was able to enter BIOS with the F2 key. I then shut down, reattached the drives, and booted up again. Then it worked fine.

I suggest shutting down and unplugging SATA and USB connections until you can get into BIOS, shutting down again, and then reattaching them. It works for me.
