i just tried that it did the beeps even tho the dvi cable was in the motherboard and not in the gpu so yeah

The simple properties of a vacuum cleaner - you have a hose, that is connected to a chamber with a fan, and a bag to collect the dust.

The simple properties of a PC - you have vent holes on the case, with fans that circulate air, and the internal components of the computer to collect dust.

A vacuum and a computer operate on similar principles....

I just went through the hassle of upgrading my GPU (from Intel HD4000 integrated graphics to Nvidia 750ti). I had to initially boot using the Intel graphics (with the GPU plugged in), go into BIOS and change from integrated graphics to the PCI express for primary graphics). Once that was changed, I could boot into Windows and install the drivers ...

If only it was that easy.....LOL. Windows crashed in the first boot, went through trying to repair, refresh and a bunch of other things to no avail. Ended up reinstalling Windows, and all the drivers from my mobo's website. Then I installed the Nvidia drivers, and all is working great.

There would be 3 possible causes:
1) Your PSU doesn't have enough power to fully power the card
2) The connector from the PSU to GPU is not plugged in
3) The GPU is defective.

It could also be the motherboard having a bad slot....but that is a lot less likely.

Reading back through the string, have you breadboarded the PC? (taking it completely out of the case, and trying to power on the system outside of the case)

1 i went from a 300 watt to a 700 watt
2 the graphics card doesnt have a cord going to it
3 maybe but i dont see how it was working the day before i put it in a new case and with a new psu

and i havent tried that , i guess i could at some point , although not sure what to put it on to do it , would my desk be ok for that ?

and in December im going to hopefully get a new motherboard , a new copy of windows , and a new cpu cooler so that should tell me if its the motherboard or the gpu , and then i was planning to upgrade my gpu anyways because i need to mine is quite out of date to run modern titles.

also thanks for the time and for trying to help me i really appreciate it :)
