Hi,

This has REALLY been frustrating... Every time I install graphics cards, during the installation the screen turns black and the 4k TV (Samsung 55inch curved) tells me no cable is connected (but the computer is on). When I restart my computer, the windows loading logo comes up, but before the log in screen comes up, it turns black.

Here's my current pc set up:

Windows 8
1600mhz 16gb RAM
120GB SSD
500GB HDD
i7 3770k
Two GTX 970's SLI
775watt PSU (see below, I ended up upgrading to 850w and still doesn't work).

Here's everything I have done to see what configurations would make it work (in each step, I would do a clean install of windows 8) :

1 -- I tried safe mode and enabling low resolution. Restart. I was able to log in.. but after like 10 seconds it turns black again and no signal.

2 -- tried to install the gfx drivers with 1 of them inside instead of both to see if it was a power thing, nope. It didn't work.

3 -- I tried to install the motherboard drivers first. Restart it. Log in, then install graphics drivers -> black screen again with no signal.

4 -- Upgraded to 850watt pus because I thought not enough power was being given to the cards. Repeated steps 1-3 again with no PSU, same thing. Black screen with no signal.

5 -- In each step, during and after each install of windows... I had my HDMI cable connected to one of the graphics cards and not the onboard HDMI connection (this means that the graphics cards ARE working and are not broken/defected -- otherwise Nothing would show up for each clean install, it only turns black AFTER installing the graphics drivers).

6 -- I even tried installing the graphics drivers from the Nvidia website instead of the CD I have... it goes black.

Special note: I used to have a full tower case. Everything was working on that (before upgrading to a 850watt psu ). It wasn't until I got a new HTPC case that all this started up happening (I did a clean install the VERY first time after using the new case because my OS was running SUPER slow and would never be able to boot up).

Can some one help me out here??

I just had a similar issue, where my computer screen would go black, and then restart by itself.
It would also go black and restart after the boot screen comes up. For me, it started working again
after uninstalling (and deleting, if possible) the generic driver windows assigns to the card from first start,
before trying to install the Nvidia drivers. May or may not work for you, but it fixed it for me. Hope it helps.

To Dyingbread:

I don't know who you are. I don't know where you are. But understand this, If I did know that information, I would find you. And thank you.
