I found a listing for an HP 2TB Flash Drive and I immediately thought it was suspicious. So I looked for one on Google and found nothing. I then asked for the S/N and the Model No. The seller says that he cannot find the S/N but the model number is V225W. When I looked up the model number the highest capacity I found was 64GB. I asked him to transfer a file of over 64GB to the flash drive and he now claims that he transferred 101GB to the flash drive and that he will post photographic evidence. The only reason I am questioning this is because this seller has 72 positive ratings and no negative or neutral ratings.

Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281494884212

...all of those ratings are from product purchases. You're looking at a suspicious listing for a what's obviously a generic Chinese flash drive with 'HP' laser-etched on it (it isn't even centered horizontally), and with a package that's obviously had something blurred out below "USB FLASH DRIVE". No product numbers anywhere to be seen. I could make a RAID array of about six drives and get Windows to think it's an external 12TB removable disk. The ad is written in comically broken English, from a seller who's first items for sale happen to be three of these identical 'flash drives'. Regardless, the technology does not currently exist in that small of a package no matter who claims to be selling it.

Don't be sucked in...

Don't be sucked in by marketing; don't put your faith in eBay's claim system, either.

If I went out and bought 300 $0.10 items with a new account, I'd have to pay $30. Sell three items for $150 each, and I've made a $420 profit. Rinse and repeat.

The largest legitimate flash drive I have seen was a 1tb drive that cost over a thousand dollars and was substantially larger than that, like around 8 times the volume. The capacity is etched where it will be inside the port when its plugged in (not something you would see usually) as well as the logo being off centre. All of his reviews are from him buying not him selling, they are positive reviews from people he bought stuff off. Even if he had good seller reviews that means nothing, doesn't mean he couldn't start selling dodgy stuff. Dont waste your money on it.

EDIT: Kingston have a 1tb flash drive if you really need a huge flash drive but its like 10 times the size of a regular flash drive. Its also really expensive.

Sony makes 2 tb usb thumb drives the HP 2 TB one you see and the all stainless 1 TB you can buy on EBay or out of HK download the Geek app on iPad and there are a number of company's making and selling them including the HP knock off ones they work there slow there all about $37 to $50 dollars it takes about 4 weeks for them to get them to you there all formatted in FAT 32 basically I think it's the last gasp for thumb drives.

This is incorrect. I don't think I even need to explain why I know this.

Here is the deal, buddy. If it sounds too good to be true. Guess. It is. I had the same issue. Here is what they do. The package it to look perfect. I purchased 4 256gb micro flash cards. When you put it in a system it reads 256gb. Then you realize how slow items move to transfer. Next you download an app to test the card legitimacy. What you discover is the cards are hacked and reprogramed to read larger. In my case I discover that what read as 256gb it was actually 8gb.

My grandpa also bought a 128Gb usb, which is available, but when he told me the price it really surprised me. He told me he paid R50, which is about $4,50 and then I knew it was fishy. He opened it and then brought it to me telling me it doesn't work. I laughed and told him that I expected it not to work. I still have the usb, but only as a decor item :D

I bought a 2TB drive and my system sees 1.98TB when i plug it in but it has proven to be unreliable. lost some data...transfers take a while...I have partitioned it and the software sees all the space...still glitchy....

Someone (prolly the same guy) sold me the same item. HP 2TB flash drive. Silvery with the same V225W. I didn't have time to test it out right away and my husband wanted to leave feedback after it had been delivered so I moved a few files to see that it was functional and we left him a positive review. The next day it stopped working. First it would trigger the computer's response tone for inserting hardware but was not viewable through any file browser. Now it does nothing at all. I wonder how many of these counterfeit things this guy has to sell and how many more people are going to be sorely disappointed. At least I didn't try to use it as a main backup for my personal data like I had planned on...

I recently purchased a 1tb flash drive (thumbDrive) from one of those Chinese companies (BoardWalk.com) and it is exactly as described. it's a USB 2.0, but has the capacity! Not seen 2tb, but I'm looking! BTW the 1tb cost me a whopping $9.99

I found a 2 TB Flash Drive on wish.com. It was out of China, and listed for $18, $6 shipping.

I * you NOT, this thing came in the mail a couple of days ago, and it cannot be 1 1/2 inches long. I plugged it in to the computer, and the Free Space listed for the memory was 2,097,083,187,200 bytes.

I would be MORE than happy so send a pic and the screen shot to anyone who'd like to see.

Have you tried writing to it? I've heard from everyone else on this thread that the sellers edit the displayed data but the amount of physical data it can actually hold is not actually the advertised amount.

Now, mind you, these aren't hard drives. They aren't going to perform like hard drives. They aren't Uber-high performance Flash drives, either. I don't know if playing a video of of one would be viable considering the read-write speed, BUT, they ARE real Flash drives. I've put a number of documents on mine, and have not had an issue yet.

I ran the test (nice little software application, btw), and it came back with 1.999934 TB. I'm not entirely sure what we're trying to disprove/prove here... all I'm saying is that I found one, bought it for $24, and it works exactly as I would expect a high-capacity, medium-performance, Flash drive should perform. I don't do a lot of music or videos. I DO use a high number of documents, excel sheets, etc, with a med-low number of pics. So far, I have no complaints.
