Hi,
I have a dell optiplex gx620 with an intel pentium 4 650. I also have with me am intel e2180 pentium dual core
I was wondering if these were interchangeable
My motherboard is a Dell 0F8098
The chipset is an intel i945P/PL/G/GZ
My BIOS version is A05
My operating system is Windows 7 32bit
All of the above info i got rom cpu-z

so my question is, will i be able to replace my existing P4 for the dual core???
also as an afterthought what would be a suitable graphics card. the one i have now is an NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS 512Mb

thanks a bunch in advance

I also have a micro star ms 7313 motherboard. Only problem is I can't find a manual for it and I know for a fact that the dual core works on it. I won't know where to plug the connectors and stuff. Also do you think I'll be able to put the micro star in my optiplex chassis?

you should build a new PC as thats some pretty ancient hardware and you stand to gain very little even by upgrading to a dual core.

$500-$600 can easily build an entry level gaming machine with a quad core and a decent video card

$800-1200 is where the price/performance curve hits its peak and you get the most bang for your buck

$1500-$2000+ can make a really nice enthusiast PC but its performance/dollar tends to not be as stellar.
