So i had this FX4100 which bottlenecks my Radeon HD 7950 3GB..i cant even play low on PROJECT CARS as some of the tracks which have crowds and more trees drops from 60FPS TO 25!!

So i tried changing some settings...sometimes it never works..like changing the Car quality to low doesn change the FPS or even changing the car quality to the max doesnt even drop the FPS..so wht settings does the game actually DEPENDS ON THE CPU??

The above posts sum up the important parts, but for the question itself, the CPU is basically the brain of the game. It's what is going to take the code's functions and make them play out, for example, a game with NPCs controlled by AI, the CPU is going to take care of the knowledge behind the AI coding so it has an effect while the graphics card is going to provide the visual detail
aikor - I don't wanna be rude, but rough-power wise, Your CPU is almost weaker then most of the high-end arm processors in cell phones :\. You cannot measure rough power in arm vs. x86 tech at all, but figuratively spoken, it's about that.

Rough-power wise, Your CPU is somewhere on a level of Intel Core i3-2125 running at 3.30GHz. Erm, which is nowhere near close to feed 7950, which is on a level of 660 Ti.

No, the CPU works with the graphics card, so while the GPU is going to be the main property in your graphical performance, your CPU is bottlenecking it, causing it to perform less

Oh IC.. The AMD FX 6300 is a good upgrade right for my budget...everyone says tht its a rly good upgrade since its idk pile driver and something?

aikor - read Mokyus post and I'll have to add. CPU doesn't only count "side-tasks" of the game, but many times it runs physics, or partial physics, and helps GPU with many effects.

CPU is kind of "allmighty" in many cases at playing games. But throughout ages, we've seen games solely dependant on GPU power, and solely dependant on CPU power [like GTA iV].
