I currently have an i5 760 @ 4.2, wondering if it's worth the upgrade to an i7 4770k @3.5. I mainly play games and I understand hyperthreadings primary benefit isn't gaming but I see a big sale for the i7. Is it worth it or should I just wait till the i5 is completely outdated

Here's the sale

The i5 760 is really old by now and an upgrade would yield noticeable improvements.

I would point out that you can usually get stuff cheaper online than going to Fry's. And Fry's online isn't really that good either. One time I paid for a new item and got an open box item with cables missing.

Thats a good sale! I would wait to build a new pc in 1-2 year but thats just my opinion youre current cpu isnt bottlenecking anything. You should wait and build a brand new pc with a newer mobo etc in 1-2 year :)

Hope this helps!

Admirable
$222 bucks for a 4770k is a hell of a deal, at the same price than a i5 4690k, add $120-140 bucks for a decent motherboard and you're good to go. If you cant afford a mobo right now, get the cpu now (promo ends tomorrow) and the mobo later.
