I am using an Acer Predator AG3620 with American Megatrends p01-a2 and want to disable my onboard GPU because my computer won't boot with my new graphics card. I just can't find any setting in my BIOS to disable my onboard GPU or set the priority to my PCIE.

Thank you in advance.

It is possible it is not booting because the power supply is too weak. Can you list the complete specs of your computer please. Make sure to include the make and model of power supply. Usually when you install a dedicated video card, the bios automatically disables the onboard video for you.

well that may be the case when upgrading a prebuilt its all your own risk .. but I do hope you find a better solution and get it going ... good luck

some models of store bought computers [dell.hp,acer,ect..] may come with a ''locked or fixed'' bios and may not allow you to change certain hardware as a video card.. this is done to protect them from undue warranty claims and refunds .this is not done to hurt you but to protect them. you really need to see if that upgrade has been proven to work in your model first before you invest money in it .. there are a lot of these threads here at toms to look at some models will allow upgrades and some dont.. and a lot of guys here say ya ya ya when is really no no no...it would be sad you spent $200 on a card that wount post after you installed it as most find out. then get told its your psu and you spend more and end up right back where you are now, but its up to you good luck..

you got to know the the boards in these computers are not like the ones we use to do custom builds witch are open to upgrading with in the boards compatibly . the bios is custom made for there design and just for the parts they authorize to be used on there computers there only guaranteed to work as is out of the box as you bought it ,..

one more thing the boards in these computers do not have to meet full atx specs.. so if your card requires the full 75w at the pci-e slot acer may have it set for only lets say 45w so no matter what psu you put in it its still set to 45w and not a drop more also there may be a total system memory lock so if it set to say 4gb and you add a 2gb card its now over that limit and may not boot with out you getting it back to or below that fix

these guys are in to selling you a computer not have you keep it going with upgrades if you need better they got one to sell you

anyway I hope you prove me wrong and do get it up and working .. good luck

heres a guy with a acer to look over on what he did

That problem has to do with Windows 8 security features.

Go into the BIOS and find "Secure Boot" then, [Disable] that option. Now look for an option called "CSM" and enable that option and it should say legacy now. Now you can shut down the computer and install the new graphics card.
