Boot Loop issue, Please Help!

Cpu: Intel i5 4690K
Cooler: Corsair H80i
Psu: EVGA superNOVA 750 B2
Ram: 2x8gb G.Skill Ripjaw 1333
SSD: sandisk Ultra Plus (OS)
HDD: 1TB Storage
Gpu: GTX 970 (not installed, shipped)
OS: Win7 x64 Ultimate

(no drivers or driver disk have been installed/updated yet)

I apologize if I have left anything out, but this should be sufficient I believe..
Yesterday I finished my build after receiving another MSI Gaming 5 Mobo (1st was bricked) and I was able to get into the BIOS no problems (this one thankfully is v1.5). At this point it would boot loop due to no OS. Only drives installed were optical and SSD for OS install purposes. Anywho, clean install on new SSD went fine, and landed at the desktop as normal. Shut down to plug other sata devices in and turn back on. Infinite boot loop. It loads to MSI logo and I can still reach BIOS without a problem. Boot priority is correct. It acts like there was never an OS installed... so I re-installed OS thinking maybe it was a faulty install.. same thing.

I have read on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169588.0 and it could possibly be my Psu not functioning properly with how the cpu goes into a lower power state..

It could be my SSD as it is brand new and I have not checked or installed a firmware update..

Hoping its not a second motherboard or BIOS issue..

One thing I forgot to mention is that the motherboard shows a debug code of (66). It means late cpu initialization I believe, But I have read that a number of things can set this code as well . . even an unrecognized keyboard.

1st I will be taking the solid state to a friends to see if it works in his cp, then update the firmware. next I suppose I will check the psu issue, but I really dont want to rma it. (others with this issue sent rma and bought a corsair instead) I would like to keep this psu.

Please if anyone has already encountered this, know of a fix, or can keep me from wasting time on one of these steps, let me know. Please include ideas I missed. PLEASE AND THANK YOU GUYS!

Not familiar with the motherboard, does it have secure boot options? I know it effects wind 8 gpt, but not sure with Win 64

I've had this problem with ssd's before. It was the AHCI, had to turn it off. Save, reboot, turn it back on after moving sata ports. Then it picked it up.

I am also new to this board and I am not sure if it has secure boot options. I did not see any when digging through the BIOS but I could have easily overlooked this. I will check again when I get home this afternoon. I will try the ssd trick you mentioned as well. seems like it might work.
I could switch to Win8 and see if anything changes, I saw some Win8 specific options in the bios, but Im not really a fan of it, I dont like a tablety feel on my pc and I like knowing where everything is haha

Yea if your comfortable with win 7, by all means stick with it. I just know on the newer laptops that I've been working on lately and a few of the newer desktops have secure boot, with are a pain in the neck with mbr. so you have to go disable secure boot for you can't even load the mbr os on the hdd. Check out my fix, see if it works. I have an older board tho 1150.

My PSU does not seem to be supported with this Mobo. I did not know that this would matter nor did I check for compatability as I thought it would simply send power wherever plugged (gaming psu to gaming mobo).. the haswell refresh cpu's drop power consumption at idle and this messes with this PSU somehow (read https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169588.0 )

CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS IS THE ISSUE BEFORE I SEND IT BACK PLEASE thanks

Update*
Last night I gave it another go, this time I plugged all sata devices back in and went into the bios (bios sees the SSD but still will not boot to it). frustrated I went ahead and put the OS on the HDD and it went to desktop (the same way I reached the desktop with the SSD) and it works fine.

What I did notice is that my SSD was not recognized by windows when the OS was installed to the HDD instead.. It can see it in the bios, and I can set it as 1st boot priority, but I only got the boot loop. Even though if I renstall the OS to the SSD I can get to the desktop fine, after rebooting it would loop again ( like the os was never installed)

Its turned out to be as simple as my SSD having some compatability issue.
no problems with psu
no problems with cpu
no problems with ram
These few things had me worried. Anywho, I hope this can help someone else with the same symtopms. Cheers!
