I'm not going to use it for booting. I will be just using it as an external storage. Planning to get a 3TB disk. I have heard something like MBR of the motherboard should support the storage capacity of the HDD. I'm not sure what does it mean. I'm afraid that this would create some problem.

Make sure you installed your chipset driver from ASUS for the motherboard.

When you plug the drive it may already be set as a gpt drive, if not just follow these intructions:
http://www.amazon.com/Tempa-Dot-Disposable-Thermometer-Sterile-Box/dp/B0008GCVSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415710726&sr=8-1&keywords=tempadot

After that you can go into disk management and create your partition and assign it a drive letter.
Easiest way to get to disk management is open start menu, right click on computer, click manage, click disk management on the left

Thanks for your replies.

I am currently using 1TB HDD since long time without any issues.

so can I partition a 4TB HDD into four 1TB drives and use it?. Will my PC detect it?
