Symptoms : 2 beeps, no display, monitor goes in sleep mode
What would be your diagnosis?

3 fans and LEDs on case work, fan on gpu works, fan on cpu works

CASE ROSEWILL|CHALLENGER RT
MB GIGABYTE|GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ Rev. 3
VGA GIGABYTE|GV-N750OC-2GI GTX750 R
PSU ROSEWILL| CAPSTONE-450 450W RT
CPU AMD|ATH X4 760K 3.8G FM2 4M R
MEM 4Gx2|G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
NAS HDD 2T|SEAGATE ST2000VN000 %
DVD BURN LITE-ON|IHAS124-14 %

this is a new build, pieces arrived yesterday, put it together a few hours after arrival

At first i considered RAM issue so I reseated 1 piece, tried every slot. Then I reseated the second stick in every slot. Then both sticks together in different combinations, including in dual channel mode and in non dual channel mode : still 2 beeps, no display.

I reseated the GPU, which currently sits in the PCI express x16 slot. I moved it to PCI4X slot : still 2 beeps, no display

Then I considered compatibility issues. But every piece in the build is compatible. The Athlon 760k is compatible with the mobo since its bios version F2. the RAM is ok for the mobo. The only thing is I can't take advantage of the PCI 3.0 since I don't have an FM2+ processor

So I thought maybe the BIOS version is causing a problem with the graphic card. But reading recent reviews of the mobo on newegg.ca it seems it ships with BIOS version F6. I probably have this version but obviously since I have no display, I can't access the BIOS to check the version.

I have no other parts to try on the build and isolate faulty components, but right now, I'm considering buying a cheap gpu to check if its the VGA GIGABYTE|GV-N750OC-2GI GTX750 R the problem.

What do you think?
Thanks

Sounds like the mobo memory module had a short. I would RMA the motherbaord. Make sure you do not bend the CPU pins during shipment because that is not under warranty.

Try the least usable configuration. 1 Stick of ram and processor. Make sure the rest is not connected and test the system. The two beeps means failure to post (duh lol. Awful diagnostic tool). It could be that you do not have the 4/8pin cpu connector fully seated or the 20+4pin fully seated. Try re-seating the power to the motherboard. If that does not work, you know the problem is isolated between the motherboard, power supply, cpu, and memory. Try moving the memory to different dimms. A memory problem normally has different beep codes though. Also reset the bios (remove the watch battery for 30 seconds) and try again.

Thanks for your reply.

With 1 stick of RAM and the GPU i get 1 long and 3 short beeps (this is an AMI BIOS).
It does so for all dimms and with the 2 sticks.

With no RAM i get continuous short beeps.

the 8 pin connector for the CPU is well seated, so is the 20+4 pin connector for the mobo.

Thanks for the link but I have already gone through that list.
The only thing I'm checking now, just to be sure, is if the standoff screws are well placed under the mobo.
