Hi All
I have an Asus M2n68-am plus motherboard running an AMD Phenom II 960T 95W CPU and 4gb of DDR2 which I am very happy with performance wise.
I would like to upgrade my current GPU which is an AMD Radeon HD5750 to an AMD Radeon HD7850 or an Nvidia Geforce 750TI, will my pcie version 1.0 motherboard be ok with a version 3.0 GPU, I appreciate there may be some performance loss but I am not running games at 1080 anyway, 720 is enough for me.
I have a Corsair cx430 PSU which I know will be fine with the HD7850/750TI.
I have seen various posts on the internet and the answers are varied, some say a pci-express 3.0 GPU is backward compatible with any of the previous pci-express versions and others say it is not.
Is anyone out there running a pci-express version 3.0 GPU on a version 1.0 board?
I don't want to fork out for a new or second hand HD7850/750TI if it wont work.
Cheers
Mark
