i want to upgrade a HP Pavilion dv6 1030US Entertainment PC to the fastest CPU that really works with it. I have included some of the CPU's the manual specs as usable and even provides HP part numbers with them.

Core2 Duo T9900 3.06 GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T9800 2.93 GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T9600 2.80 GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T6600 2.20 GHz with 2-MB L2 cache and 800-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T6500 2.10 GHz with 2-MB L2 cache and 800-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T6400 2.00 GHz with 2-MB L2 cache and 800-MHz FSB
Core2 Duo T5800 2.00 GHz with 2-MB L2 cache and 800-MHz FSB

It comes with the T6400. I have read a couple of accounts of unsuccessful upgrade attempts but I can't find anything on the internet describing a successful upgrade. I hope some one can tell me how they successfully upgraded the processor especially if they used a 1066 FSB part.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.
I would like to do the upgrade just to do it and to get the satisfaction of it having improved the laptops’ performance until a good deal on a Broadwell laptop with a 4K display to replace it can be had. It’s my wife’s computer and she has to run multiple apps simultaneously which slows it substantially. It’s been equipped with 8 GIG of memory and an SSD for quite a while and if a CPU running up to 1 gig faster can be installed, I hope it will be able to run multiple applications simultaneously a lot better than it does, so it will be sufficient until a new computer is purchased.
I’ve worked on some laptops and it’s easy if you know the particulars of the models disassembley. I hope that if I can get enough information on the CPU swap for the Dv6 1030us, I won’t spend more money than just what it takes to get the CPU that gives the most bang for the buck.

I have seen these processors on ebay for less than $60 with guarantee, and ebay also gives a money back guarantee. I’ve had to use the ebay guarantee, and it is fast and good.

After I install the CPU I’m going to stress test it with diagnostic tools like Intel’s diagnostic tool and if it fails it goes back to seller.

Now all I need is info from some one that has done the upgrade and knows what works.
