Hey everyone this is my first computer :)

I have a general jist of what to include but not good with whats compatible and so forth when it gets into the more nitty gritty IT areas haha! So I'm a student which I would like to have this rig for a decent while with the availability to upgrade graphics cards in a couple years or earlier if necessary and add the extra ram if needed :) I will mainly be using the computer for 3D modelling within Maya, (the main program I will be using) with maybe some Mudbox. I'll also be doing some rigging in Maya also :). I won't be hardcore gaming or anything like that, I usually only play Wow every now and again and maybe some League of Legends here and there and wouldn't mind being able to play these on high or ultra haha.

this is what I have so far! (the prices are what I'm looking at in Australia building through MSY since thats the only place i've had experience with computer parts before :) ) I'm trying to keep it below $2.4k just tower wise only, feel free to make adjustments since I'm not as savvy as you guys! thanks heaps :)

Future-proof easily upgradeable build and still totally powerful. You'll get great performance in Maya and ultra settings in new games. Oh... and there's DDR4 memory.

Yep, look at the 2x8GB Tridents from GSkill in 2400, great sticks, I'd take the savings from the DDR4 to DDR3 and go ahead and get the 4790K and a decent cooler the Hyper 212 EVO (about $35) will keep hings cool to around a 4.6 OC (even if not thinking it now, down the road having the K is like getting a free CPU upgrade ;) ) Case might look at the CM HAF 212, got my Z97 Hero in one (in sig), no USB 3 on the case, but with what you'll be doing, might want a USB based card reader (that's the route I went.

os - windows 8.1 - 110$
ram - 16gb ddr3 2400 g skill trident -212$
cpu - i7 4790k -394$
graphics - 4gb gtx 970 evga superclocked - 485$
motherboard - asus maximus VII hero - 255$
case - ?
psu- corsair hxi hx750i -218$
blu-ray player- pioneer writer - 79$
hdd - seagate baracuda 1tb - 62$
sdd - samsung 840 evo 250gb -134$

turns out tho that the graphics card has been removed from msy and it would cost me 565 to buy elsewhere :\ should i just invest another 100 instead of buying elsewhere and upgrade to a 980?

thanks for all the help! :)
