PC won't boot: No beeps, no display, loss of power

Hi,
I have a homebuilt PC that's been working well for a couple of years but yesterday it started having issues.
When I hit the power button I see that the fans (CPU, GPU and case) spin for around 10 seconds before briefly switching off. They'll all come back on again a second or two later. I hear no beeps from the motherboard and the display never turns on. If I leave it sitting then it will happily remain powered-on (i.e: The fans don't lose power again) but nothing happens, no HD activity, no POST screen, nothing.
I hadn't changed any components, it's exactly the same system as has been working well in the past. I've now tried disconnecting everything and booting with just motherboard and GPU. Same problem.

Anyone have ideas of what might be wrong? My gut feeling is that the motherboard is fried but it'd be good to have some expert opinions.

Motherboard is ASUS P6T SE X58, with Intel i7 950 CPU and a GeForce GTX460 GPU. Power supply is 650W.

Thanks!
