Compaq Deskpro: IDE Primary Drive 0 not being detected by the BIOS.

I recently reseated the riser board and the ram in the computer and since then the primary harddrive is not getting detected. I even swapped the cdrom and the harddrive and made the cdrom the primary and that wasn't detected, so this means nothing in the primary IDE drive port is being detected by the BIOS. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey there, ProGamerzFTW!

There might be several reasons for this. First thing I'd do is make sure that the port you are trying to use is Enabled in the BIOS.
Also if it's set to IDE maybe try changing it to AHCI and see if it's going to help somehow.
Another thing that may cause this is are the cables. So if you've been using the same SATA/power cable, I'd recommend to try with a different one.
Check if your motherboard has an e-SATA port, try testing the HDD there as well if it does.

If none of these work, you might be dealing with a faulty port and I'd suggest RMA-ing the motherboard.

Hope this helps you! Good luck! :)

Well this is a sort of very basic bios, only the secondary IDE can be enabled/disabled, no setting to change it to AHCI, as well of no SATA ports of any kind. I also like to say there was a time with the cover open it recognized it but after putting the cover back on it didn't recognize it anymore, even after I took the cover back off.

Looked like all the issues was related to the CPU as this computer is notorious for the way it's setup. We reseated that and it looked like it worked. >.<
