I don't have access to antistatic wristbands and i'm quite worried about frying my components.

So are there any other options?

Solution
You just need to touch some steel not connected to any current. i.e. The siding of your computer case just take that off and before sticking parts together touch it. You just need to ground yourself to reduce any static.

if your build area has carpet pick up from staples or from someone plastic square for pc chairs. the dirty ground strap is use a screw driver and a metal coat hanger. wrap the coat hanger around the table leg and then put the screw driver on top of the table. before you pick up a part use your metal house keys or a metal spoon and tuch the screw driver on the metal part. if you and the table are not at ground...you feel the zap.
