My WiFi icon has an X (indicating not connected) but I am able to browse the web. Is there a way to reset or clear the icon?

I have a laptop running Windows 7 and the WiFi icon has an X (no connection) but I am actually accessing the web. It is a school computer and I suppose I can put a sticker on it that says "Yes you actually are connecting to the Internet" but I would rather fix the icon if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Good answer! Another thing that could be happening is if you are using network software, that came with the drivers. Sometimes they install their own program, instead of using the windows wireless networking, in which case you may be connected but 'windows' hasn't got a clue because you aren't using it's wireless zero configuration. In which case, just ignore it.
