Hi i'm looking to build a Gaming PC which is good enough to play FFXIV at Maximum settings.
The build below is what i'm potentially getting. Please advice on what to upgrade or change thank you!

CASE-NZHT 440
PSU- SEASONIC XFX 550/650w
Mobo-MSI Z97I GAMING AC
CPU-I5-4690K
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212X
GPU-MSI Radeon R9 270X
RAM-G-Skill Rip Jaw X 1600mhz CL9 4GBx2
SSD-Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB
HDD-SEAGATE 500GB 7200R 3.5"

The computer is usually running from 12 hours daily. I'm new to building pcs. Budget is around the mid range 1-1.5k. This is my first post to the forums, please advice thank you!

Thanks for the advice! Also please advice on the PSU and Coolers! Not sure if the Cooler Master Hyper 212X will be great for my 12hour daily usage thanks!

Yes! the R9 280 was what i was considering initially but i found out that R9 270x seems to be faster than the 280? the price is only $30 higher than the R9 270X over here, would gladly get it if its better overall for gaming!

Yes, Go for R9 280. It performs better than r9 270X.

R9 280x will be better to run games at max settings
get a Cooler Master GX - 750W 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply

Sapphire Radeon TOXIC R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 DL-DVI-I/SL-DVI-D/HDMI/Dual Mini DP (UEFI) PCI-Express Graphics Card 11221-01-40G
I am having this gpu and its awesome but its double the price of the gpu u mentioned
320 $

Oh wow, the R9 280X would be around 50% more expensive than the R9 280 in my area! Out of my budget at the moment!

listem up friend if you get r9 270x or r9 280 these both gpus are also great
but 280x gives 50% more performance than these 2
u can play ffxiv at med settings with good fps but around 20-35 at high settings
on other hand with 280 x u ll get 70-90 at high
if u want to play latest game in coming period 280x ll be better
and it stacks very well with ur other setup just get an coolermaster 750w 80 plus bronze psu
and with that gpu maybe for nxt 3 yrs no need of any upgrade for gaming

thanks alot! my old build is a SAPPHIRE HD 7850, some how i could get close to 60fps at high settings. What's the recommended brand to purchase an R9 280x from? I'm looking in MSI but it seems slightly pricer than the rest.

yes! its already at 1.5k+ at the moment, getting the R9 280X would bring me over that.

i have a build (less than 1k) in which ur going to get same performance with ur listed build while playing games
you want me to share it?
i am suggesting you to buy better gpu just because it fits better with your other components

as you said you're running pc for 12 hrs a day(just to be clear 12 hrs of gaming?)
if you're going to get this build you can run 2013 and older games at high (some on med example: far cry 3) and 2014 and above at med-low
if you're going to do 12hr of gaming spend some money on water cooling loops for cpu and gpu

Poor PSU.
Old SSD and it is really slow.
Price of GPU not included.
Older generation of CPU and Motherboard
And r9 280X is no 50% faster than 280X it just merely 20-25%.

ok so i'm close to finalising the build for my midrange 1.5k+ build.

CASE-NZHT 440
PSU- CoolerMaster CM GX-750 80+ Bronze
Mobo-MSI Z97I GAMING AC
CPU-I5-4690K
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212X
GPU-MSI Radeon R9 280
RAM-G-Skill Rip Jaw X 1600mhz CL9 4GBx2
SSD-Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB
HDD-SEAGATE 500GB 7200R 3.5"

Would this be sufficient for max settings without fps cap? or capping at 60fps settings?

That is nice build but it doesn't seem like a 1.5K build.
Here is a build I'll recommend. It can max out any game and has enough power and space for future expansions and will perform better than that build.
