So i have this old system I have been gaming on a lot recently, It also has a GTX 660, 6Gb of Ram and a Athlon II X4 645 CPU. I have been throwing around the idea of changing the CPU for months now, but I am not sure if it is worth the hassle. I would need a new Mobo and I been eying a fx6300 or fx8320. I feel that the CPU may be holding me back in games, but I am not really sure to be honest. Lack of L3 cache from what I understand is not that big of a deal for gaming, but I am not sure if it is becoming problematic with the newer releases that are coming out like COD:AW and AC:Unity. Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated :)

I upgraded from an athlon II x4 630 to a fx 8320 and asus m5a97 r2.0. I do a little video editing so all 8 cores get used. If your a gamer then the intel route would be better. No sense paying big money for a 4 year old cpu

I cant get that CPU its a FM2 socket. My mobo is an AM3 95W board which severely limits my ability to upgrade. The CPU's I can get for that board are running the price of a new AMD CPU, unfortunately they are all used on eBay since they are no longer in production. I don't believe a Phenom 925 X4 or Phenom X6 1065 would really make a big difference, however I may be wrong, I am not very well versed in CPU's.
