My two graphics cards won't run games above 30fps

Hi everyone, my issue is: I have recently built a slightly expensive computer and I cannot run games at above 30FPS. Can I have some help please?

My hardware is here:

My powersource is a Coolermaster V850 gold.
All my drivers and bios are up to date, I am running GeForce Experience, EVGA PrecisisonX16 and EVGA OC Scanner X.

Day Z wont run above 30 fps, even on lowest settings.
Here's a screen of the settings I usually run and it's hardly any difference fps wise from low graphics settings.

Garry's Mod is the same, when many props are spawned there is lagging, which I thought I would eliminate with a computer like this...

Any help would be much appreciated, as I do not understand how to overclock, but I do know how to control temperature and fan speed.

Thanks guys

Well, Day Z isn't exactly known for "good" SLI performance scaling, and when you run 4K, all cards will struggle, even with a game like G Mod. You can't expect every game to perform well because 4K is a new resolution, so games and video cards aren't 100% ready to handle it as well as 1080p yet.

Well you see... my graphics cards are only on idle, there is no temperature increase, or any sign of them actually putting in some effort to increase the fps, they just sit on 40 degrees celcius and run the game at 30 fps.

What I want is for them to boost and throw out some more fps in exchange for increased temps.

Hopefully this helps:

It's an unoptimized steaming pile.

Mess with the Launch Options of DayZ (properties):

-cpuCount=6 -exThreads=12 -maxVram=3072

Overclock. =)

Also for 4k gaming you need 2 780ti's in sli at the very least.

It just occurred to me, there may be another problem.

Does your FPS NEVER go above 30 FPS? If not, did you mess around in the 3D settings of the Nvidia control panel, and turn on "Adaptive V-sync (half refresh rate)"? That would cap your FPS at 30. A straight up FPS cap would do that too.

If it does go above 30 at times, then it may be something else. How do other games run?

Yeah, it's capped at 30 FPS, don't know how or why, if that may be the problem, then how do I fix it?
Vsync is just set as the standard "on" in the Nvidia control panel

If it won't budge, then you need to find out the source of your FPS cap. Try turning off V-sync. Check what GPU software you might have installed, like MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner and see if you have a cap set. You need to find out what you've installed that has put a 30 FPS cap.

I suppose you might also have your monitor at 30hz, and with V-sync causes you to cap at 30 FPS. Given that you are at 4k, this is likely the cause.

What is your monitor/TV model? Can it even go beyond 30hz? If not, v-sync will cap you at 30 FPS, or without v-sync, you'll just get lots more tearing beyond 30 FPS.

In the monitor refresh rate settings it gives me: 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30 Hertz.
Does this mean that the monitor is stopping the graphics cards utilizing more than 15% of their capacity?

Can you link the monitor, or give a model number? At least with the way you have it setup, you are limited to a maximum of 30hz, which means a maximum of 30 FPS with v-sync on. While v-sync is on, your GPU's will only work as hard as needed to reach 30 FPS.

Also I discovered I was using the HDMI cable, but once I swapped to the Display Port cable, it still only gives me 29 or 30 Hertz options...

I have a feeling it may be the drivers that Nvidia have released don't support 4K at 60Hz yet.
