So This is my first post on here please bare with me if I fail to follow normal procedures or forget to mention something that I was suppose to mention.

About two week ago my computer started randomly shutting off on me and if I turned it back on it would shut off again fairly soon ( within 5 to 10 minutes ). If this happened I would let my computer sit and I would come back to it and the issue wouldn't happen for awhile until at random it would shut off again and do the same thing until it got so bad that I realized something had to be going wrong. So I put the computer away and did some research about the topic. Originally I monitored the motherboard/cpu temperature when I would turn my computer on in the BIOS screen. It would start at about 30* and move up to aprox 70*-80* before the computer would automatically shut down again. Since this issue seemed to be messing up with an overtime I figured it may be my thermal paste ( not really changing it in aprox 6months-1year). So I tried to buy some new paste ( artic silver 5 ) and apply that new paste. During the time up until I got this paste I left my computer alone and decided I wouldn't run it for safety measures.

Now that I have applied the paste I turned the computer on with everything plugged in figuring that was the problem but now the display won't come on. The computer turns on the graphics card fan are spinning ( which I know doesn't mean it is fully functional ) but there is no display and on top of this my computer stays idled with it on and after aprox 5-10mins the computer again shuts off on its own. When i feel the cords for the kuhler ystem to the pump they feel coolish but if I feel like black heatsink over the CPU the little black circle in the middle is extremely hot when I feel it after the computer has turned off.

To sum up I started with the issue of overheating. Figured it was thermal paste, applied new thermal paste and now not only do I still have overheating issues I also have display issues. I have really tried a lot of stuff such as switching the cords, switching monitors its displayed on, unplugged / plugging things in and its really getting to me on why its still over heating and now I have no idea why the display isn't working.

My theory ( I'm currently in college for a software degree so I have some knowledge of computer and im curious if you think what I think is possibly what is going on ) :
My theory behind the CPU is that the heatsink fan has gone bad and no longer works. but I really have no idea how to test this without being able to display a BIOS or even really with the BIOS ( my Motherboard has no VGA plug in ) I imagine that the heat sink is not working currently.
My theory behind the graphics card is maybe I shorted it out while I was working in the computer? Or that the CPU going bad has made it where I can no longer display information ( I'm not sure if this can happen, tried to do some research with no avail. ) As far as the graphic card goes I'm going off pure guesses and not really sure why.

Graphics card : Sapphire 7950 ( http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1841&psn=&lid=1&leg=0# )
Heat sink : Kuhler h20 620

Please help guys I'm really getting bummed out my baby won't work and I can usually figure things out on y own but I can't in this situation and thats why I'm posting on here.

Specs:
Mobo: ASRock 990fx Extreme ( http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme4/index.asp... )
Fans: 2 top LEPR fans. 1 front Lepr fan ( the inside of the computer is super cool . it literally only hot on the CPU itself.
CPU : AMD 8350 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA63920D7463&cm_re=amd_fd8350-_-9SIA63920D7463-_-Product )

Well, it sounds like the water pump died. The fan, you should be able to just see if it is moving. If it is moving, it is not broken. The pump on the other hand is tough to tell if its working unless its audible. My guess, because the radiator does not get hot, the pump is not bringing hot water from the CPU to the radiator which in turn causes the CPU to heat up very quickly. If I were you I would just get a hyper 212+ cpu cooler and call it a day.

Display is now working again, turned out to be a faulty RAM problem. Still working with the heat issues involving the heat sink / CPU any input would be wonderful. Trying new techniques to applying thermal paste currently.

by CPU cooler I'm not sure what your asking me ? The fan on top of my CPU is the kuhler h20 620. which is what I think your asking for ? I'm not sure to be honest if that's not it. The kuhler h20 620 is a 2 piece, one being the fan on top of the CPU + another fan. Heres a link.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835209049

Okay no sorry that part is fine. The part that is attached to my CPU, the part that the radiator is connected to via the tubes is becoming very hot. Now that I have my display back I can see that the temperature starts at aprox 40C and moves to 80C approximately and than continues to rise until it shuts off. I'm starting to think that the CPU fan is dead.
