can windows 7 key be used for windows 7 sp1

I installed windows 7 and after some time automatic update installed windows 7 sp1. When I try to activate windows I get error 0x8007007b. Is it due to sp1 or what ? Why do I get errors? I want to activate windows 7? What should I do?

A volume-licensed key is one that is sold to large organizations to allow them to install Windows on many computers. They are often misused and sold as retail keys (e.g. on eBay), but Microsoft are wise to this. The error message that you are getting is one that is typically received when an attempt is made to install using such a key. (Microsoft will have disabled it because of abuse.)

But if you installed Windows 7 from a proper Microsoft retail DVD this cannot be the case. You need to phone Microsoft and explain the situation. They will want to know where you bought the DVD so that they can ensure that it is a...

No it was not activated before sp1 update. Windows 7 was installed by me with the cd. And what is volume licensed key?
