My motherboard came with some sort of Intel socket adapter, can I use it?

Hey all,

I have an ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 which has been doing just fine for about 3 years now, but I think it came with some kind of Intel bracket (I'll have to find it) if I wanted to install an Intel CPU on this board. Which seems weird because it's obviously an AMD board. Thoughts? Would this be dangerous if I do it?

Solution
Are you sure it wasn't an "Intel adaptor bracket" for an after-market CPU cooler (e.g. Noctua coolers come with mounting brackets for both AMD and Intel sockets).

You won't be able to mount an Intel CPU on that motherboard, as the sockets are physically different, and the chipset won't know what to do with it ...
