Is a 850W PSU enough for this build?

I've decided to buy a 850W PSU to go with my build which is :

Motherboard : Asus Maximus VII Hero
CPU : Intel Core i7-4790K
GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0
HDD : WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive
RAM : Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8GB

(Side Question : Is this build good?)

I've read that the GTX 980 needs at least 500W to work and based on the other components is a 850W PSU enough?

I would think so what psu did you get ? [seasonic -evga]?

It needs 500watts installed in the system and with 850 watts you can run 2 x 980 in SLI and overclock all you want! The card uses less than 200watts of power. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_980/24.html

And I like to be in the 50-70% load range of my PSU and with a total system pulling just over 300 watts gaming http://www.anandtech.com/show/8526/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-review/21 that is well in line with the system recommendations.

well I looked I went with the seasonic unit 850x cause it was near a inch shiorter [ 6.3" x 5.91" x 3.39"] and a way better fit in my mid tower

between the hx the g2 each would do you a fine job I feel I would use any of the 3 we suggested

seasonic is there build -- hx is a channelwell -- evga g2 is a superflower all top parts used

It is the OEM's that make the PSU's for different brands like Corsair, which does not make any themselves.

well other than taking lesser space, most psu's would fit in any cases. I'm just looking for a one that would last for about 2 years with the usage time of 5-6 hours a day.

The HX has 7 year warranty and I expect it to last longer than that!
