does the i7 4770k only work on the z87 motherboards (or atleast the best one for it)

the i7 4770k can support the h97 h87 z87 z97 and b85 h81
if your not going to overclock then go with a z87 because there is ALOT of expandability or if you are overclocking then the z97 is your choice

It works on any 1150 mobo that supports 84W CPUs, but because it unlocked, you'll want to get a z87/z97 mobo, and since pricing is around the same its better to get a z97 mobo. There are decent z97 boards around $120 bucks.

Different things between them are M.2, SATA-E and 8 series of mobo surely can't support the CPU that's next generation
To OC, I suggest msi z97 gaming 5
