I'm in the market of buying a new computer and I was interested in getting the Zotac 980, is it as good as the stats prove?

Solution

Some of the complaints with the EVGA model is the coil whine. So take that into consideration. I would still get the Zotac one over the EVGA model.

Alot of people do...Zotac is a very good company. I'm guessing the card is voltage locked(the 970 is and I have one). If they update the Bios to unlock the voltage then yes it will be...easily.

i see you one of them(Zotac)user.no offence,im just saying.

They make great cards and their customer service is great. Their new GTX 900 series cards are among the best.

Hm, well I don't mind getting into Bios but I don't want to get a crappy Graphics card that doesn't mean the standards they set..

How about a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Classified ACX 2.0 Video Card? It has a 1.29 core clock, same with the Zotac card here but it's 100 dollars more and seems to have less bad reviews.

I've heard the EVGA has the best performance overall, and has alot better overclocking capabilities

Like I said the best overclocking card will be the Zotac or the Gigabyte version. They have the upper hand in cooling when it comes to overclocking. But Zotac needs to update the bios which I suspect they will at some point. EVGA has a nice 980 and it doesnt suffer from the same manufacturing issue the 970 does. But the coil whine is still present.

Well this isn't an ordinary 980 by EVGA it's the classified version
It seems like it's the best 980 given it's aspects http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487080&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
I also should include my part list aswell: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mdBdvK

The clock speed is about .7 higher than others.

No reason to pay for that then. Probably has a back plate too which is the added cost. Zotac has one and the cooling is just fine for a good overclock.

Some people just stuck with asus, evga, gigabyte and msi. There are many low profile brand out there and while it not popular in some country, they did well in other country. Ive seen many good review about zotac and since they came from same company with sapphire, they arent green in the market. Omega and extreme version of zotac is worth to consider.

GTX 750 ti without problems, tested another GTX 650 withtout problems? Bad reviews? You can put them where you know about them.
Is just another ignorant who believe that some people says about Zotac, they don't know nothing about.
Also Zotac Extreme is superior than EVGA that are you mentioning. I guess only Asus or Gigabyte can vs Zotac in this way.
