I have a wired home network with jacks in each room. How do convert the RJ11 connection which goes to the router to a RJ45... which will then go upstairs to the jack, then RJ45 back to RJ11 which will then connect to my router. I have a BT Hub 5. Doesn't make much sense...

I am going to bet you can just plug rj11 cables into the rj45 jacks on both ends. A rj11 plug will match the center 4 ping of a rj45 on both ends. It is a little hard to get back out once you plug it is but it will work.

The biggest issue will be if you cables really go directly from one rj45 jack to the other.

I am assuming that what you are trying to do is extend the DSL internet connection coming into your house to a different location without running more wire.

Pretty much anything else will not work. You can not for example run ethernet on a cable terminated with rj11.
