Hello I have searched the web up and down done all the testing I can have had techs try and help me and still can't figure my problem out... I recently built a gaming computer and I get random lock ups freezes and restarts I get blue screens few and far between and need help to figure this out my specs are as follow

CPU fx8350
GPU MSI r9 270x
Mobo MSI 970 gaming
Psu corsair cx600 (80 plus bronze)
Ram G.skill ripjaw x 8gb (2x4)GB
HDD Seagate barracuda 7200rpm 1tb

Never done any overclocking temps seem fine also installed hyper 212 evolved to improve thermals

I have done 3 clean installs of windows 7 64bit I have used Norton's registry cleaner to see if that helped but this is my third install with all necessary drivers the place I took it too stress tested every component like I have and they couldn't get it to lock up they tried suggesting to stress the PSU because hey think it isn't ramping up when the computer demands it

Oh, Nortons. Are you running that now. Is that your virus app? Nortons used to be a real resource hog and created software conflicts with a lot of other programs. It may be better now, but I'd disable it or uninstall it and see if the issue is still present.

It is my primary just because I'd rather not pay for antivirus can't really get a good answer on other antivirus but thats a different issue the resource usage isn't too bad on it I will uninstall it and give it a go when I get home and give you the results I suspect my HDD is the problem but again it is random but I do get locked up when I download something hut I could lock up watching YouTube or gaming so I'll uninstall norton and see what that does

Ok so uninstalled Norton and decided to do everyday stuff to see if I lock up, nothing. Then i started to download something because that will sometimes make it lock up, still nothing. I kept downloading a game from steam and ran furmark and a cpu load test and finally blue screened so what should I do know post the bluescreen results DMP file or what just let me know.

Thanks,
Harry

I have been using Microsoft Securities Essentials for years with Win7. It is free, works seamlessly with Win, and takes up few resources. I use it in conjunction with malwarebytes and have been virus/malware free ever since.

Btw, Nortons isn't so easy to uninstall. If leaves too much of itself behind. Did you use the Nortons Uninstall Tool?

checked whocrashed one of the problems apparently is the driver for my network card athrx.sys I might look into previous drivers for it, also something with windows kernel ntoskrnl.exe ever since Norton has left it has been a bit more stable but I only get crashes if I super stress the computer like running furmark prime 95 and download something all at the same time other than that it has been stable so far I will continue to test and use and see what I can turn up but those are the who crashed results I can copy and paste the results if you'd like

A failing PSU can cause that. The Corsair CX line has been known to have cheap capacitors.
But lock ups and freezes can also be caused by a failing HDD. Lot's of possibilities.

Thanks for the tip I will try and locate an extra power supply or buy one and test from there. Also I have tested my hard drive and so has a computer place and I nor they could find any bad sectors and the SMART status is good too is there anything else that can be wrong because I read somewhere that seagates lock up to prevent corruption or something but could there be anything else wrong with it other than that? I will also try and locate a spare HDD and test from there

An expensive one to choose since you don't know for sure if it is the psu what's causing the problem.Another cheaper and good option, just not modular,
http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/rosewill-power-supply-capstone750
or modular,
http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/newegg/rosewill-power-supply-capstone750m

In the Eggxpert Tiered Power Supply List is the M12 a tier 2 psu like these capstones, the M12D is a tier 1 psu.
