Hi, I recently bought a new AMD a8-3870k apu, that is 100 watts. My old APU, an amd a4-3420k, had a wattage of 65. My power supply has a wattage of 180. Is there any way to see how many watts my PC is using now? What would happen if I put in my new apu and the wattage was too low?

You should be alright. Budget CPU Wattage + Chipset + HDDs + GFX.

100W (CPU) + 10W (Chipset) + 10W (Per HDD Less for SSDs) + 0W (Assuming no Discrete GFX Card)

You can plug your PC in to a Kill-A-Watt meter to found out where you stand. You'll also notice your PSU getting very hot if you are getting near the limits. Check it after running for a little while.

Good update. I was simply going off of AMDs stated TDP not an actual review.

So I should look for a new psu?

What would happen if I used my apu without getting a new one? Would my computer break somehow?
