Crossfire & SLI support on duel GPU cards

So I was wondering, do you need crossfire or SLI support on your mobo to have a Duel GPU card. So say if I had a R9 295x2, Would it run if my mobo didn't have support for crossfire.

nope, you can run any dual gpu card on any motherboard SLI supported or not.

SLI/CrossfireX is done on the PCB which is why it works with all motherboards.
