HDMI is the best... HDMI and DVI are both digital video and are compatible with the appropriate adapter (from DVI to HDMI or from HDMI to DVI).

D-Sub is analog video and the same as VGA.

MHL stands for Mobile High-Definition Link technolog and it's used to connect a smartphone video to a standard monitor while charging the smartphone.

So, the better video output for a PC monitor, is through a regular Graphics Card with the standard VGA/D-Sub, DVI-I and HDMI ports.

And if you want to connect your smartphone to a monitor.. You can get monitors with MHL... check these few.
