Hello,

Currently I'm using this motherboard as a replacement for my previous MSI P67A GD65. Unfortunately I have this booting issue with my SSD which kind of troublesome. When I first using it it does not cause any problems even though I wasn't doing fresh install of my windows 8. It was about a week later that this "reboot and select proper boot device" appears. This usually happens when my SSD is plugged to SATA3 port. When I changed to SATA2 port it still occasionally won't boot although not as frequent as when it was plugged to SATA3.

Basically whenever I turn on my computer I had to cross my fingers and hope that it would boot. If its not I had turn off my computer and try to either change the SATA cable, change its SATA port or unplugged the SATA cable on my SSD and plugged it again and turn it on. Sometimes it need 2-3 tries to get it worked.

What causes this problem? Is there any kind of fix to cure this problem? I hate to RMA this board because I'm using on board graphic and it will take quite some time before it returned to me.

Thanks in advance.

BTW here is my current system:
Intel 3770 non K
Asus P8Z77 V LK
Intel 520 120gb SSD
Intel HD graphics 4000
Corsair TX650 V2
Kingston hyperx fury ddr3 1600 RAM 16gb
Prolimatech megahalems
Coolermaster CM690 III

Hi Tradesman1, sorry for the late reply. I've caught up with lots of work lately.

I've already updated the latest BIOS and chipset drivers. No problems with booting so far for the past 3 days I've monitoring my rig since the update. One thing though, I've discovered that the CPU fan header have some sort of problem reading the fan speed. I'm using arctic F12 PWM in push pull plus I daisy chained it. Currently it has been set to ignore. What actually caused the problem?

Hi guys. Sorry it took long time to respond. A month after updating the chipset and others, the problem rose again. It will not read my ssd and I had to off/on my pc a couple of times. After trying several solutions such as changing sata cable, boot from other sata port, the problem is still there. Lastly I had to do a clean reinstall on the windows 2 weeks ago (yeah it took too long to do clean reinstall because I was too busy with work lol) and so far it seemed to cured the problem.

As for PWM fan header, I changed the Arctic Cooling f12 PWM fans to a single deepcool PWM fans and the motherboard is able to read the fan speed thus the problem is not the fan header but the fans.
