Update my Old Laptop or Get a New One?

I have a somewhat old laptop (2010-2011). Specifically, it's a Samsung NP-RC512. A few problems came up a couple years ago while using the laptop. I use to crank out my laptop (Three years ago, I had no knowledge of computers whatsoever) with video games that I now know shouldn't be played on it. With an integrated graphics card, and a low end CPU I used to constantly play games like Skyrim, Witcher 2, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Yeah, I obviously had no clue what I was doing. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but now the computer crashes pretty easily. I can't play games on it at all (Yes even the skimpy Facebook games that we all hate receiving invites to) because it'll crash and completely turn off with no warning. Now I want to use for it school, but I can't overwork it (For example, having three or four tabs open, along with iTunes, and a word processor) without it shutting off randomly. Sadly, I received the error code 0x00000e9 which I have come to the conclusion that the Hard Drive is fried. If I do plan to update this laptop, I need to buy a new Hard Drive and figure out why it's overheating so easily and how to fix it. Or, I can just buy a new laptop but the problem with that is I don't have a lot of money so it has to be a pretty cheap computer. What do you guys think?

TL;DR - My computer, a Samsung NP-RC512 randomly shuts off if I overwork it, for example, having three tabs open on the internet, iTunes for music, and a word processor for something like schoolwork. If I have to update it, I have to buy a new hard drive as well as find out why it's overheating and what I can do to fix it (That's where you guys hopefully come in, if you need anymore information just ask). Or I can just buy a new cheap laptop.
