Thinking about making a full switchover to Ubuntu.

I use my laptop for just about everything; gaming, schoolwork, coding, etc.

However, I'm really starting to consider making a full switcher from Windows to XUbuntu or the sorts. The reason I'm posting this is because I need someone to tell me whether I'm crazy or not.

As I said, I use my laptop for alot of gaming. It's a pretty powerful computer, but lots of Steam games do not support Linux yet.

TL;DR I need someone to tell me whether this is a good idea or not.

I made the switch a few years ago. I just learned to play the games that were available. Basically Counter-strike, half-life, portal.

Although like FiL said, if you have a license then you might as well use it.

you kind of answered your question. If you are a gamer you shouldn't make the full switch, why? because you stated "lots of Steam games do not support Linux yet." I will make some dual boot type of stuff. have Ubuntu and Windows, that way you can always switch if you need to. Game on one platform and work on the other!

Well, I just took a short glance at the list of games that support Linux/SteamOS. It appears that most of the games I play often are already ported.

I will also be doing a gaming build that (at this point, anyways) is going to be runnning Windows. The reason I want to switch to Linux right now is because I want to get whatever I can get out of this while she's in her dying years.
