Best AMD Processor for Gaming?

Solution
FX 8350 or FX 8370 there are also fx 9000 series better than these two but they consume power like a hungry hippo and AMD has recommended than those who uses FX 9000 series processor should have at least 1000 watt of PSU.

Best in what way?

Absolute performance -> FX-9590 - $220 @ Microcenter

Best price/performance -> FX-8320 - $130 @ Microcenter

It's a good thing you're supporting AMD, because they're getting crushed by Intel in the CPU market. Current CPU market share is 80% Intel / 20% AMD, and if the current trend continues, it'll only take 5 years before AMD will have 0% market share (most likely fold from the CPU market long before this happens).

If AMD folds from the CPU market, CPU prices will likely rise and we'll all pay for it.

You can't blame them. If we look at the numbers:

Intel's research and development annual budget = $11 Billion dollars

AMD's entire company's worth = $4 Billion dollars

It's like a cat vs a cheetah

Meoww :hihi:

true they [amd] scored all them console contracts and apu is there way to go but there not for prime time gaming rigs as rolli59 said there focus is elsewhere -- what I don't get is whay they did not try the apu with a better chip like a 8350 ?? [although my AM3+experance was well disappointing and moved me over to intell for my first time in 14 years ]

I stuck with AMD from about 1997 thru 2010. Finally had to toss in the towel, as the difference in price for AMD and INTEL for me is not a problem budget wise anymore. AMD has decided they no longer intend to try and compete with Intel head to head in the high-end CPU market, its a niche market, and good move or bad, they have decided to invest in other areas.

Everyone keeps saying they've "stop competing" which simply isn't true. AMD just doesn't have an answer to Intel's high performance chip. However, they are in R&D for their next high-performance offering, rumored for 2016. In the meantime, its all APUs ahead for them, which are not bad for every-day usage, in fact they are a great value for most computer users.

Sometimes I think people on this forum forget that we power users are a very small part of the overall PC market.
