Hello,

I have 2 of these cards. I stopped using them in crossfire or as singles, as I noticed computer crashes often while gaming. Using OCCT I noticed their temp reached 120 Celsius before computer crashes. I got them from someone who probably tried to OC them (but wouldn't admit it). Is there a way to make them work again in reasonable temperature ?
BTW I'm using the NZXT Tempest case.

Thanks you

The reference cooled card: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_4850/images/card1.jpg always ran hot, with 90C being commonly reported under load so if it's that type of cooler (ignore the PowerColor stickers) don't expect it to run cool whatever you do.
Whatever cooler is attached it's probably long overdue for a good clean out, and changing the thermal paste for a premium grade like Arctic Silver or one of the super diamond based formulations will probably get things under some degree (pun intended) of control.
