PSU Watt Question

Hello,

My current system is as posted here

PC Partpicker shows the system uses approximately 826 watts, and I would like to buy a fully modular PSU for easier cable management.

For personal reasons (NOT for futureproof-ness), having no electrical knowledge I would like to go for a 1200W PSU rather than a 1000W one. I know it would not be financially optimal but it would save me a lot of time. (I've sold my not-fully-modular PSU)

I was going to buy CORSAIR HXi 1000W 80+ Platinum
however I did not since I want to buy a COOL MASTER 1200W V1200 80+ Platinum

Would using a 1200W PSU on my rig be unefficient or in the long run harmful or would it be OK (it won't matter) in these class PSUs?

It would not be harmful or inefficient, but simply stupid as it will offer NOTHING over a proper sized unit.

Get a 1000w PSU. There is absolutely ZERO reason to get a 1200w unit.

wouldnt 2 x gtx970 be more a better idea than 2 x 780ti

and about $200 cheaper depending on which manufacturer

I have Silent Pro 1000W from Cooler Master and I wanted to get myself a modular PSU, selling this one to my friend who wanted the same one since he has a more "limited" financial while building his own rig.

Then buy another 1000w unit. there is absolutely no reason to go for 1200w.

COOL MASTER 1000W V1200 80+ Platinum or CORSAIR HXi 1000W 80+ Platinum then? I checked Jonnyguru but your opinion would be golden for me as well.

Also if I went and bought 1200 it wouldnt be a problem right?

No it would not be a problem, besides a waste of money and getting NOTHING in return at all.

I would buy neither of those. Get yourself an EVGA P2 1000w or a Coolermaster V1000.

There is unfortunately no way except overseas shipping for me to buy an EVGA PSU and v1000 is out of stock, it would be my number 1 choice.

Well damn, although completely pointless and needless overkill the best QUALITY unit would probably be V1200.

The P2 or G2 1000w unit. Both are AMAZING quality. As good as it gets.
