Hello, in my opinion you would be best going with an i3 as they generally perform as good if not better than fx-6300.

If you want an fx-6300 avoid MSI 970 boards they aren't good.

ram seems fine

Very good GPU

Get a PSU by a better manufacturer an XFX 550W unit is available fairly cheap.

CPU- Great dor the price.
Mobo- One of the best 970 mobos, mybe get a 990 of 990fx, but a 970 would be fine.
Case- More of a personal choice.
Memory- 8GBs, gaming sweetspot.
GPU- Excellent, and very powerful.
PSU- Alarms! get something better than that. I would go with something like a Corsair AX/AXi series, or an EVGA 1000 G2. Nothing less money than a EVGA Supernova NEX 650G. That is my mark for where the quality PSUs begin.

An i3 will not outpace a 6300 in games, or practically anything. AMD practically owns the budget market. Intel will whip them when it gets to the big stuff, but an i3 will never beat an FX 6300, definitely in games.

If you went with an i3 (not sure why you would) you can't use the same mobo, because it has a different connector/socket.

No, you would need to buy a different motherboard for the i3 as they use different sockets.

and Scizor on what basis do you say the 970 G43 is a good board?

also an i3 is better than an fx-6300.

OP, what's your budget for parts and where are you from?

The issues i have with what i had picked out originally were the cpu and psu. Obviously intel makes quality products, but I know that AMD is good for budget builds and the multiple cores is useful for gaming.

In terms of psu I have no clue what im looking it. I understand wattage is important but how much does the brand really play in to it? Should i get a more expensive one with the same wattage?

My budget is about 1000 with peripherals, but about 130 for cpu and motherboard around 70. Im in the USA as well.

Wattage is not an indicator of quality, the manufacturer is more so.

AMD FX-6300 has multiple cores yes, and yet the i3 performs equally if not better and an i3 build isn't more than an fx-6300 one.

Any recommendations then on a specific version of the i3, motherboard, and psu that might fit my budget

That will not beat an FX 6300 system, dude he is wrong. An FX 6300 loses on a couple of things, heat, and power consumption. Single core performance is slightly worse, but the multiple cores will blow that i3 out of the water.

Give me a second, and I'll put together a build, I'm guessing you need a monitor, OS, keyboard, mouse etc?

I agree with most of that. I might not include the cpu cooler and use the stock one, and get an xfx 550w which is closer in my price range.

also if you're spending $1000 you'll want a better CPU than an i3 or fx-6300.

something like this,

Go with either my original build or this:
This will blow that i5, and the i3, and the FX 6300 into space. This thing can compete with an i7 3770k or sometimes higher in real world gaming. Maybe not as much in some productivity, in fact it will be beaten, but for gaming it is beautiful.

The sharkoon mouse isn't expensive but personally served me very well for 2years+ and isn't damaged @ all.

The keyboard is also well reviewed and fairly popular.
