Okay so here is my problem. My ISP is Mediacom and my router/cable modem is Hitron Technologies. I am able to connect to the internet flawlessly over any kind of hard wired connection but over wireless it will drop periodically and the only way it will reconnect to the internet is by restarting the router. It will stay connected thought my phone to the router but it will say no internet access through "my SSID". We have received a new modem thinking that that is the problem but i still can't figure out what is wrong. If you need anymore information let me know and any input will greatly be apprecieated

You need to consider wireless interference. While it could be hardware related, it is more likely due to interference. What model Hintron?

I would check for nearby networks that may be an issue with the free version of INSSIDER, run it and check the network tab for strong signals by channel that may be interfering with you. You should be on the least used non-interfering channel (so 1, 6, or 11 if using 2.4GHz).

The model is CGN. I ran the INSIDER and it showed a lot of overlap because i was running on channel 8 and it was fairly crowded. The default channel was set to auto so I changed the channel to 11 (the highest it will go) to get as far away from the used channels as i possibly could. The internet access hasn't dropped yet and I will let you know whether that fixes the problem or not.

Sorry this has been delayed but the problem still consists. I will change the channel that the router is broadcasting on and this will bring back the access to the internet and then at random intervals the internet access will drop again and I will have to either change the channel that the router is broadcasting or restart it to bring back internet access.. do you have any idea what could be the problem?

Most likely you have enough interference on 2.4GHz that you are having occasional drops that you can't avoid since there are not many channels and everyone uses it. If it is enough of an issue I would look at a concurrent dual band router to add and configure it as a wireless access point, using both 2.4 and 5GHz if your phone and other adapters work on 5GHz.
