WIFI Very Slow for One PC

Hello everyone,

I got my PC about a month ago. I have it on my home wireless network. My download speeds are much slower than they should be, usually around 950 KB/s. My old PC would get around 2.2 MB/s and they are both in the same spot. I did a speed test and it was around 6 mb/s. I downloaded the same app on my phone and performed the test in the same spot in my house and I got on average 20 mb/s. Another PC on the same network is connected via Ethernet and it gets about 40 mb/s. I have tried to tighten the antenna on my WIFI card but it had no effect.

I presume the Wireless cards are different? Different cards have different transfer speeds and, although it won't be capped at 950 KB/s it may still be affecting the speed. Perhaps consider upgrading the card or using the card from your old PC.

My old PC doesn't have a better WIFI card. Right now I am using a Ralink 802.11n and my old one had a Qualcomm Atheros 802.11bgn.

I contacted my PC manufacturer and they are sending me a replacement. It should be here in a few days and I'll try it out. I hope it works.
