So I am running a laptop -- specifically a Samsung NP300E5C-A02US. I primarily use it for school work and some graphic design work. I dropped in a Samsung 250GB 840 Evo when those came out last year, took out the ODD, and replaced it with the 750GB HDD for storage. When the Win10 TP came out, I decided that I could put it on this computer. It ran fine through the initial install and the first major update for the most part, but on the second update a few nights ago, my 750GB HDD disappeared. Like legit disappear -- it doesn't even show up in BIOS. Right before the second update, the SD card reader stopped working as well.

I decided to reinstall Windows 8.1 yesterday, but neither storage device has recovered. Any advice? I don't want to prejudice your opinion with this next part, but I think it could be relevant. I had to send this laptop in for "repair" last summer (2013) when it seemed the sata ports went out on the motherboard. The major difference this time is that at least one sata port (with the SSD) is still functioning perfectly.

Also, I've tried looking in the disk management program, but it only sees Disk 0 (the SSD).

Thanks in advance!
Shawn

Update:

I swapped the two HDDs and it seems that the SSD is recognized in both sata ports, but the HDD isn't recognized in either.... which sounds bad. Going to take the HDD to my desktop and try it there. *sigh* I have alot of school documents on that hard drive.... and finals are right around the corner.

Update 2:

Took the HDD to my desktop and plugged it in via a HDD docking station. Works fine and I'm copying all the data onto another drive (just in case). Acronis Drive Monitor says it's 100% healthy. So now I'm just puzzled.... oh, and still without a functioning SD card slot. haha.
