Hello All,

This is my first time posting so I hope I ask this clearly. I am building a home recording computer and along with it a dual compartment custom case. I have a 1250 watt Seasonic PSU for the motherboard (X99), SSDs , video cards, etc... One section of the case will be for mechanical hard drives only (20+ 3.5'' drives). I will be using a separate PSU (650 watt Seasonic) for the mechanical hard drives and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to convert the 6 and/or 8 pin connectors (it is a full modular PSU) to SATA or 4 pin molex connectors. I am worried about overloading the SATA and 4 pin molex lines and was hoping there is a way to utilized the 6 and/or 8 pin connections to power more drives? An adapter of some sort perhaps? Thank you for any help.

Solution
I don't think you will be overloading the SATA and Molex lines since each drive will use no more than 1.5A and the PSU has a 54A 12V rail.

I never seen a converter of the type you are looking for
